Blackjack strategies differ based on whether you got a hard total or a soft total. A hard total means that your first two cards does not include an ace or includes an ace that uses the value of one. A soft total in blackjack is when one of your first two cards is an ace with a value of eleven.

Here are the strategies that you can use when you got a soft total in blackjack. Even blackjack experts employ this strategy to win the game.

In a blackjack soft total, when your other card is an eight or nine, it is best that you stand. This is regardless of the dealer’s face up card.

If your other card is a seven in a blackjack soft total, and the dealer’s card is a two, a seven or an eight, choose to stand. If the blackjack dealer’s face up card is from three to six, choose to double. If doubling is not allowed, just opt to stand. If the dealer’s card is a nine, a ten or an ace, choose to hit.

If your second card in blackjack is a six, and the dealer’s card is a two, seven, eight, nine, ten or an ace, you should choose to hit. If the dealer’s cards are from three to six, it is best to double your bet first before you hit. If doubling is not permitted, hit.

If your other card is a four or a five, if doubling is allowed, do that if the blackjack dealer’s face up card is a four, five or a six so if you win at blackjack to you’ll get double or even more. If doubling isn’t allowed, hit every time you get a soft total with a four or five.

If your other card is a two or three, it is best to hit regardless of the blackjack dealer’s face up card. Another option that you may take is to double your bet first if the dealer’s face up card is a five or six.

When you employ these strategies, you will notice that your payout is increasing. When you are just beginning to learn playing blackjack, it may be a bit difficult to memorize these. But once you get more familiar, with practice, these strategies will come out naturally and even without much thought.
